Imagine floating thru the epic canyons of the Rio Grande on a full day, fully guided, fully equipped trip. The Rio is mostly flat water for a scenic adventure. The river has class I rapids that is perfect for our first timers. Come learn and/or work on your boating skills. The water levels fluctuate and can influence what boats we take: rafts (we can row you down the river or everyone paddles), canoes, or kayaks. Throughout the winter season, the river is usually not more than thigh deep. Riding in a raft with all your favorite people makes for some fun pictures. We can row you down the river in a raft or if you/some/all want to paddle raft that is a great option too. At lower water levels we like to canoe and kayak. The canoes are 2 seaters with the option to ride smaller kids in the middle. The kayaks are single or tandem sit in or sit on top and are totally lots of fun. Weather also can influence what the choice boat would be. We meet up in the morning and then drive down to the river. Included is all gear and dry bags. Please bring your own food and beverages. New Wildlife viewing excursion just outside of Austin
During this wildlife viewing excursion we will start later in the afternoon. In the wild, animals are everywhere, if you know where to look. Before sunset, we'll discuss how to glass properly and we'll be using the finest optics on the planet to accomplish this. We may locate some animals hiding in plain sight under trees or in brush. During this experience, we may identify several types of birds along with white tail deer, wild pigs, raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, armadillos, rabbits, and this property has several species of squirrels not found many places. I'll have a species checklist and we'll play a game to see if we can check all of them off the list. These are wild animals and can freely come and go as they want, so it certainly adds to the challenge and we'll have a blast!

Giant Paddleboard at Sunset w/ Bats!
This is the best way to experience the bats hands down. The journey on the 5-6 person giant paddle board starts with epic downtown views during the day, continues with the sunset, then observing the 1.5 million bats fly out and ends the night paddling back after dark in the city glow. July 2022 UPDATE: The bats are the best they've been in 10 years right now. Don't miss this trip. Booking this tour for the sunset and bats puts you along side Austin's #1 experience "kayaking w/ the bats" only you're on a board! Its the same trip just a different vessel. I also host daytime paddles using the same boards so message me if you want to take a custom trip on the boards to a secret island or the springs Don't let the word "Paddleboard" fool you. This is 15 feet long and 4.5 feet wide. It is ultra stable. You will not get wet unless you choose to go for a swim. You can sit down, stand up, or even lay down. It's impossible to fall into the water on accident. It takes 2 people to paddle a giant board so single travelers may be asked to join another group. The mega paddle boards make for an excellent family or group option cause you get to stay together and share the experience. As a bonus, as soon as you book, my auto-reply welcome message has my personal guidebook to Austin that can help you plan the rest of your Austin vacation.! View my IG: @boatsandbats
Austin Unlocked- A Speakeasy Tour
Go on a walking, cocktail tasting, tour of downtown Austin! We'll stop and talk about several hidden-face speakeasy style bars - some stashed inside parking garages, behind bookshelves, down alley ways, pass-code and password protected, and private clubs! We'll get you into three where we can order drinks! Meet downtown and we'll sit and chat for a few minutes at introducing ourselves and what it means to call a bar a speakeasy in Austin, TX. Then, we walk to the first bar. All the bars are located downtown within a few blocks of each other. We'll spend 30-45 minutes in each of three bars, having drinks, learning about the place, and appreciating the aesthetic. Throughout the night we will continue on past a total of seven hidden-face speakeasy style bars, stopping in some and just stopping to talk about others. The night ends once you get into the third and final bar and get your drinks ordered. We do not to include drinks to give you a lower price and more choice. We will have a group tab which can be paid for via cash, Apple Pay and Cash App. Prices vary by venue but $15-25 per drink (including a 20% tip) is a good ballpark.

Horseback Tour of Private Working Ranch
On horseback you will be guided by a 4th generation rancher through sections of Chihuahuan Desert in Far West Texas. This tour offers a rare opportunity to visit a 3,200 acre private ranch, operational for over 100 years. On this 1/2 day long tour, we will meet at the ranch gate where I will lead you to parking and the horse pens. At the pens you will get acquainted with my 3 seasoned quarter horses: Cactus Jake, Seis, and Flash. Once acquainted you will have a basic riding lesson before we head off to the prehistoric Kockernot Mesa trail on horseback. This trail originally carved out by Native Americans hundreds of years ago and in more recent times by the cavalry during the civil war will be our gateway to learning about the history that has transpired in this area how the land has been used in the past thru present. We will break for a small, provided snack before we head up the winding hillside path to our destination of several Native American sites. Once near the site locations we will dismount to wander off the beaten path on foot. As you gaze upon these prehistoric sites, you are welcome to collect rocks such as geodes and flint, take photos and look for arrowheads. Once we have taken in all the sites we will remount and head back to the pens for the closing of our trip. Before we say goodbye, I will be happy to answer questions about the land and its history.
Latte Art For the Beginner Without Expensive Equipment
I’ve always wanted to like wine because I’ve felt it lends a degree of elegance to a meal or meeting. But, wine is just nasty to me. I get it that coffee may strike some that way but I developed a taste for coffee and never did for wine. Coffee, however, is just so bland. Add a little cream and sugar to taste but it’s still pretty basic. Steam that cream and apply it with care and skill and it becomes latte art, something extraordinary. Anyone *can* do it but you don’t pull it off the first time you try it. The practice and resulting skill conveys Care. Care for someone else is always attractive. So, this experience can be your introduction into a way to express Care to anyone who will sit down and enjoy a simple cup of coffee. If that’s you, you’re a host. After introducing you to the muscle memory you’ll need to create latte art, we will show you how you can use cheap ingredients and a french press to practice. Practice the heart first. Then, go on to the tulip. It seems only fitting that your “certificate” of completion will be a personalized leather coaster to take with you. After class, anyone who wants to can enjoy a self-made vanilla latte—complete with latte art, of course.
