The Old Dairy really was originally a dairy on West House Farm but is now a lovely comfortable ground floor flat in this old stone cottage. The flat has a studio type area with double bed, seating area plus a walk in rain shower off separately to the side. The lovely feature of this flat is the double aspect kitchen with a range cooker and large fold out kitchen table. There is so much on site here including a cafe, gym, outdoor recovery spa (sauna, pool, hot tub), beauty parlour and more

West House is set on the edge of Chilton Polden on the Polden Hills between Street and Bridgwater and overlooking the Somerset Levels towards the Mendip Hills. The main house is of Gothic Victorian style with a beautiful old Coach House set behind the house and plenty of other quirky buildings around. We have lots of animals on site here - sheep and lambs; Barry (our Saddleback pig); cats and dogs; chickens; alpacas, two naughty pygmy goats called Murph and Cindy, our two Red Deer called Saffron and OG; two larger goats called Bruno and Clover; horses and currently a donkey called Patch. You may well see some of these during your visit!

We also have a gym on site - The Goat Shed (home of CrossFit Wyvern); we are primarily a weight lifting and conditioning gym but offer open gym sessions and CrossFit classes; PT is also available. Our Outdoor Recovery Spa is linked to our gym and is available to book (at additional cost) (hot tub; sauna and pool for cold water swimming in the winter; heated in the summer; closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day). We do offer an exclusive option or hourly slots (limited availability) with limited numbers. A chiropractor works part of the week from our gym plus sports therapists (please ask for details).

Have you ever wanted to try Alpaca Trekking? Somerset Alpacas is based here at West House so if you want to learn more about these fascinating animals plus other rare breeds and try your hand at trekking with them go to fb Somerset Alpaca Trekking and send Sue a message!

You will find a pint of milk in your room when you arrive; this is from our Milk From the Moor milk station in the old Donkey Barn just across from Js Bistro; you can also buy some real local farm milk from here to take home or sample one of the many delicious milk shakes. Yummy milk from a local herd of cows grazed on Somerset grass with minimal food miles.

In addition there is a beauty parlour offering a range of treatments "The Parlour" and also Salon V hair salon. Somerset Silver designs and makes silver jewellery on site here which is also on sale.

Visit Js Bistro, our on site cafe (open 10am - 6pm Tues - Weds; 10am - 8pm Thurs - Sat and 10am - 3pm Sun; closed Monday) to have a delicious breakfast cooked for you. Coffees, lunches and other drinks are on offer as well and wonderful freshly made pizza (please book in advance for pizza to ensure your order). Alternatively you may wish to prepare your own food and use the lovely double aspect kitchen with full range cooker, microwave and fridge. Walk in en-suite shower with rainfall shower. Access is through a door shared with two further Air BnB flats which are up a stairs. There is a private locked door to the Old Dairy and it is on the ground floor.

Finally there is an outdoor patio area outside the front of West House Cottage which is shared with other guests with a table and chairs set amongst flower tubs and pots.

West House and the Old Dairy is set in a beautiful part of the country - Somerset - and set just up on the Polden Hills above The Levels with views across to the Mendip Hills where Cheddar Gorge and Crooks Peak can be seen with Brent Knoll and then Glastonbury Tor in the other direction (from certain angles!) There are several local nature reserves which are wonderful to walk around and the levels are teeming with wildlife and amazing sites such as the starling murmerations. If you travel across The Levels at night you will often see a Barn Owl. There are so many special places which are within easy visiting distance - Cheddar Gorge and Caves; Wookey Hole; Glastonbury and the Tor and Abbey; National Trust properties such as Dunster (and then on to Minehead and Exmoor), Montecute, Lytes Cary, Fyne Court plus stunning scenery across the Quantock Hills or Mendip Hills which are wonderful for walking or riding on; Burnham and Brean are unique beaches to visit and walk on; Wells is a quirky and special place to visit with a breathtaking cathedral and Bishops Palace. Also Bath with so much to see; West Somerset Railway, Bristol including The Bristol Hippodrome - and if you are here at the right time in November the Bridgwater Carnival is not to be missed! So much to do and see!

Hi I would love to welcome you to my home, West House. I live and work here where my daughter and her husband and myself run CrossFit Wyvern (a gym). With quite a few animals to care for and people using the gym, cafe and beauty parlour there is never a dull moment but it can also be a very peaceful place to be. I love the views out to the Mendip Hills over the moors at the back of the property and the sounds of wildlife when not many people are around! I hope you will choose to come and visit and that your stay will be truly wonderful.

I am usually available to help with any query you may have - if not then my daughter Bek will be on hand. I can often be found out with the animals, in the gym or in the main house and am at the end of my phone in most cases. If you wish to be independent and not have any contact then this is fine as you can access the flat via a key pad so can come and go as you please. We do have quite a few animals here including cats and dogs - they can be inquisitive so any problems please contact me and I will come and remove any intruders; its possibly the not place for you if you are not keen on animals although I will do my utmost to keep them away so they should not be a problem.
