Desert king village stay is an excellent blend of traditions, amenities, exemplary service and beautiful architecture. In 2012, it had its beginning as a humble tea shop, and has now grown into a large open space surrounded by traditional Kutchi Bhungas with all your modern-day needs for a stay; all amid a peaceful ambiance under the stars. The host, Mustaakbhai along with his brother Gulabbhai, manages the stay with personal attention to all details, from your check-in to your check-out.

Majutuskoht
The village stay is accessed through the restaurant Mustaaqbhai and his brother build after years of
blood and sweat. Your eyes will first land upon a large, open space with some shrubs planted right in
the center of the circle the rooms are built around. The pretty flowering plants around the fence allow
for some privacy for the guests, planted at a distance from the entrance of each room. The pretty,
compact, traditional Kutchi Bhungas are tastefully decorated, hand-painted by the aforementioned
Malsinghbhai of Hodka. They come with an attached western bathroom, shower and provision of hot
water. The rooms come two table fans and no A/C as Kutch drops to single-digit temperatures during
the Rann Utsav and the need for blankets fourfolds. But, for guests who'd still want an A/C, the
Rajwadi Bhungas, designed in a way that you don't get to see the entire room as your entire, just a
glimpse of it, are air-conditioned. These stunning Bhungas are spacious, with a dedicated seating area
next to the bed, that looks out onto the veranda. The best part of this room, though, lies beyond the
curtains that open into a stunning backyard, private for your convenience, with only the stars for
company. Hours can be spent here, as the night get quieter and the morning sun comes up.

Make the most of the ample space by sitting here around a bonfire on a cold Kutch night. Stargazing
is possible right outside your room and you can take it a notch up by requesting the host to arrange for
an hour of stargazing with a telescope, at a nominal price. Right behind the Rajhwadi Bhungas is a
ring constructed for guests to enjoy horse-riding – with only grasslands to feast your eyes on around
you; this is a promising experience.
The Rann of Kutch is a mere half-hour from Desert King Resort. Kala Dungar makes for an
interesting visit, where one can even choose to trek up if not for taking the vehicle all the way up.
This, referred to as 'India Gate' here, is where you can stand and get a glimpse of Pakistan. Chari
Dand is a great place to witness Flamingos.

Mustaaqbhai has been schooled up till 12th, after which he worked with an NGO in Bhuj. Impressed
with his work, the NGO set up a pharmacy for him to look, which is where he further honed his
managerial skills. Meanwhile, the tourists would nudge the brothers towards the idea of building some
rooms and with some confidence and a leap of faith, Mustaaqbhai left his job and build five rooms in
a mere 5 months. He's always loved working and to this day, often looks after the guests' needs
personally, then be it taking a jug of water to their room. He was a man of humble beginnings and is
highly appreciative of his life now, of which he says, "Kabhi sapne me bhi nahi socha tha hum yaha
pohchenge," with a smile on his face. (I'd never even dreamed of coming as far as I have, in life).
