Nestled in downtown Paonia, our Hobbit House is sometimes described as a "cottage-like". Warm in winter, cool in summer, the nice yard has lots of shade. Close to downtown eateries', the pub and river park. There is a large tub for those who love to soak. Pets are welcome and love the "fenced in" yard. A grill with table and chairs is on the back porch. Historically, this spot was a miner's cabin, rumored a town park, and where my children were actually home birthed! Welcome to Paonia!!

The space is light with many skylights and glass doors. There are some different levels with 1 step between rooms. A client once said "The place was very cute our 4 year old daughter referred to it as the fairy house and wanted to live there forever."

There is a gas fireplace for heating and a wood fireplace for ambiance. Wood is not provided but you can pick up a bundle or two at the grocery store or the Stop'N'Save gas station.

The kitchen has a gas cook stove and opening skylight. There is a toaster,and coffee maker. There is no dishwasher or garbage disposal. Dining room seats 3 or 4 at table and 2 at bar.

Laundry room is provided. There are 3 parking spaces available~and a shed where you can leave your recycling

This block of Paonia is great! The new Pub is half a block away. Very close to the Paonia River park and just down 4th street to the town park. All of Paonia's finest eating establishments located within 3 blocks. Especially known for "slow food" and "local food". You will love our Western Slope, small town, agricultural and mining society......now recognized as a Creative District, and always re-known for innovations in Education, Arts, Crafts, abundant produce and fine cuisine. Wine tasting in the area is a must..with Azura winery on the list. On Wednesdays and Thursdays the Thai truck comes to town and heading out to Edesia kitchen is such a treat.

Welcome to Paonia where my kids, donkeys and I currently live on Pitkin mesa. We enjoy mountain biking, skiing and hiking the local trails in the North Fork valley and would love to share that info with you!

During the summers we also really enjoy the local rivers and enjoy various floating methods such as kayaking, rafting, tubing and even whitewater canoeing in the Gunnison and Colorado river valleys occasionally making it as far as the Green River in Utah.

If it is winter, you can enjoy world class skiing 360 degrees around Paonia....all within about 2 hours!! The nice part is that if it is snowing in the South, you go to Telluride. If it is snowing in the East, you go to Crested Butte, or Aspen. If it is snowing up North then you can ski here in many self-locamoted styles and McClure Pass or Stevens Gulch is our local favorite. If it is snowing West of here...then the Grand Mesa is a winter wonderland with Powderhorn ski area being only 1.5 hours away.

Of course most visitors come in the summer! The winters can be quite awesome as well.

I would love to answer, to the best of my ability any questions you may have about Paonia, it's produce, musical talents, culinary establishments, etcetera. I will not be present at the location for your stay, but will be available by phone and email. We can also recommend local hikes, biking trails and river systems to the outdoor enthusiasts! Make sure you plan to explore our national treasure, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in at least one of it's 3 different park locations. Also highly recommended is Kebler Pass and the lake areas there within.
