Jack and Poppy, your hosts, have been looking after guests in Poppy’s Cottage for 30 years, and with many happy guests returning time and time again. They were winners of an award in Excellence for customer service by their local development corporation. The little cottage is set on 140 acres and is only 10 minutes from the heart of historic ARMIDALE. You may enjoy cosy and warm accommodation in the “Settlers’ Cottage” adjoining the turn of the century homestead. The cottage, which dates back to the gold-rush days in the New England, was transported from Hillgrove by bullock team in 1901 to its current site in the garden. The Cottage is tastefully decorated and offers a small library of books and magazines for your enjoyment. It is set in about 2 - 3 acres of established, leafy, English style garden, interspersed with old-fashioned perennials and roses. With 2 bedrooms and ensuite, the cottage is totally private. You may have an option of an extra double bedroom on the side of the house. This has a private bathroom which may be accessed along the pathway at the front of the house. Your hosts are happy to help you with recommendations for dinner at a choice of many restaurants in town - only an 8 minute drive from your cottage.
A Continental hamper breakfast, including a selection of fresh fruit and yoghurt, orange juice cereal, home baked bread, is INCLUDED in the tariff. They bake their own bread and make jams from the fruit trees in the garden. During the warmer weather, breakfast may be enjoyed in the garden under the canopy of the fruit trees to the music of birdcall. Children may enjoy feeding the pet animals and collecting farm fresh eggs from the hens . The cottage is well catered for children's enjoyment with toys, children's books and the use of a trampoline in the garden. Sassy the resident young border collie is a favourite with all the little ones - and the big ones too!
Poppy’s Cottage is the ideal base to experience Armidale’s culture, tourist attractions. Further along the road, visit world class National Park and spectacular waterfalls. (The walks in the park are stunning). Enjoy tasting wines from the adjacent winery, or sampling a delicious weekend lunch in the gardens of the vineyard homestead. Safe undercover parking for your vehicle is offered if required. Your hosts who have enjoyed offering warm and friendly B&B accommodation for 30 years, look forward to making you feel welcome.

My husband and I have been offering bed and breakfast accommodation for over 30 years and very much enjoy meeting and caring for our guests. It is a joy to be able to share our farm, our animals and our rural lifestyle with people from other countries. I am a member of a French speaking group in Armidale and we meet each fortnight to keep up our language skills. I love photography and am a member of a local photography group.

Your hosts will be available for your assistance during your stay and will assist you and give advice on things to do and what to see while you are visiting Armidale. Guests are welcome to enjoy the peace and quiet of the large leafy garden which is filled with many deciduous trees and perennials. During the summer months, please feel free to enjoy the fruit from the orchard trees. The children will love the pet ducks in the garden - they will come to them when called. There is a $50 surcharge for a child under 12 for Bed and Breakfast accommodation.
